About Hanna Geisel

Hanna Geisel, originally from Darmstadt, Germany, is a specialist for historical double reed instruments.

Ever since finishing her studies in modern oboe, baroque and classical oboes as well as earlier instruments like shawms have been her main musical interest.
In addition to that she also plays percussion, recorders and bagpipes.

She finished her studies of Early Music at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in 2012 with a MA of Arts.

As a versatile performer she takes part in concerts, opera productions and recordings all over Europe where she played with various groups, like for example the baroque orchestras La Cetra Barockorchester Basel, L’Arpa Festante or La Stagione Frankfurt and medieval and renaissance groups like cantar lontano, I Fedeli, Les Haulz et les Bas or Sollazzo.

Hanna is very interested in chamber music and co-founded the ensembles Mandragora, Syrinx, Vento Poetico, Piquet Jouette and Alta Bellezza.
Additionally she is the director of the Freiburg Kreuzgangkonzerte, a chamber music series in a medieval cloister.

She lives in Freiburg, Germany.
